Majella Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Music
has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you for
the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play
to someone who has never seen or heard you?

Firstly I would say hello!

I
grew up in a musical family and as part of a family band I gained
valuable experience of performing live and I love it!  I play the guitar
and have quite a deep voice which sometimes surprises people. Although I
do write some of my own songs, I mainly cover classic Country and Folk
songs which I interpret in my own way.

Please tell us about the songs on your album (influences etc)

The
songs on my EP are a collection of some of my favourite Country and
Folk songs and ones that are often requested at my shows.  I really
enjoy performing these songs live and they represent a wide range of
artists including Don WIliams, John Denver, Ralph McTell and Radney
Foster.

What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

I
am drawn to songs that tell stories and I think the best songs for this
have roots in Country and Folk music. I appreciate the variety of
structure and rhythm they offer too and always enjoy recording them.

How much creative control do you have over your music?

I
have complete creative control over my music.  It’s very important to
me to be able to choose the material I sing and to interpret and arrange
the songs the way I want to.

As
an artist, you have so many tasks such as recording, touring,
interviews. what do you like best, what’s your favourite activity ?

There
are indeed many aspects to being a performer. I enjoy working in the
studio collaborating with other creatives and visiting new places and
talking about music is always interesting but overall I enjoy performing
live on stage the most. The atmosphere and interaction with the
audience creates something special.

What inspired you to become an artist?

Being
surrounded by all kinds of music growing up and really enjoying the
experience of travelling and performing as lead vocalist in our family
band, I decided that I wanted to pursue and develop a career as a solo
artist.

What drives you?

The
pleasure I get from performing and sharing my music.  Interacting with
an audience and seeing them enjoying themselves makes me happy.  Music
unites everyone and in a live performance it’s an experience we can all
share.

What hopes and desires do you have?

I
would like to be able to share my music with a wider audience, write
more of my own songs and hopefully collaborate on projects with other
musicians, writers and creatives.  I am always interested in new
opportunities and working to develop my craft further.

What’s the best compliment a fan has ever given you?

That I am a great storyteller and that it enhanced their enjoyment of the songs I chose to sing.

Describe what a perfect day is like for you?

Having
a leisurely breakfast and then going for a walk in the beautiful
countryside near my home.  A simple lunch (outside if possible) and then
relaxing in a comfortable armchair with a cup of tea and my favourite
book. Later in the afternoon, catching up with family and sharing a
traditional afternoon tea with homemade cakes and scones with lots of
jam!
