Flashback Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout
Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe
yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

Answer:  I would describe Flashback as a band trying
to keep the essential spirit and feel of the early J.D. Crowe and the Ky
Mountain Boys and the early New South alive but with new material.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were
your highlights?

Answer:  Last year was good for us. We went through a
minor change but are stronger than ever. The biggest highlight would have been
recording our new CD”Denver Snow”.

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how’s it
doing?

Answer:  Denver Snow. The new single ”
Moonshine” has already charted on a couple of the charts and has just been
picked up by Sirius XM

Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the
CD?  Is there a story behind the name?

Answer: The name came from a song Richard Bennett,
our guitarist, wrote some time ago.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not,
how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Answer:  Richard Bennett and our mandolinist, Don
Rigsby wrote several of the songs on the Cd. We look for material that has the
feel of the KMB and NS. Plus we did a couple songs that Crowe and them did in
their live shows from the 60`s and 70`s but never recorded, as kind of a
tribute to them.

Lamitschka:  Please tell us about the songs on your
album (influences, etc).

Answer:  There is a mixture of old and newer styles
plus an instrumental. As I explained earlier, we look for certain songs that
have a certain feel.

Lamitschka:  What is the difference between your last
CD and your current one?

Answer:  We went to a four member format for this cd,
it`s a lot cleaner and tighter feel.

Lamitschka:  Your current single is being played by
radio. What do you feel is special about this song that makes people want to
hear it?

Answer:  I think it`s got a newer feel to it but
retains the overall mood of our group. It`s a great song from Larry Rice ,
“Moonshine”.

Lamitschka:  What kind of songs do you like to record
the most?

Answer:  Songs that we all feel, you can tell ,when
youre tracking a song, if it fits or not

Lamitschka:  What is your favorite song among all the
songs you have recorded and what’s the story behind it?

Answer:  Of Flashback`s repretoire , I`d have to
say,”Two Rivers”. Its a song Richard Bennett and Shawn Lane wrote.
It`s a beautiful ballad.

Lamitschka:  How much creative control do you have
over your music?

Answer:  Loaded question. We control what we record
and what we choose to play live, so I`d say a respectable amount of control.

Lamitschka:  Do you have any interesting stories
about how fans have been affected by your music?

Answer: I`ve had fans come up with tears in their
eyes saying how we reminded them of the old days of the KMB and JD an the NS.

Lamitschka:  Who inspires you musically and how deep
do your musical roots run?

Answer:  Thats a long list. I get inspired by the
guys I`m playing with probably the most! My personal roots run the gamut from
bluegrass to blues, R&R , Country, Gospel.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today’s music
scene versus its post and where do you see it going in the future?

Answer: There is a lot of energy in todays music. I`m
a fan of some of the newer acts, a lot of them keep true to the roots but go in
newer directions.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today’s music
industry?

Answer:  I think the business ahs gotten too
political in nature and very shallow and plastic. It seems to be all about the
dollars that are not there!

Lamitschka:  If you had the chance to change
something about the music industry, what would it be?

Answer: I would like to see more people that have actually
played this music for a living, not just part time, have more of an active hand
in the business.

Lamitschka:  As an artist, you so many tasks such as
recording, touring, interviews. What do you like best, what’s your favorite
activity?

Answer:  Without a doubt, the time we spend on stage
is what it`s all about!

Lamitschka:  Are you doing anything to take music
beyond its current borders or are you happy where it is?

Answer:  I feel that our approach is taking it to new
boundaries and beyond.

Lamitschka:  What moments in your career stand out in
your memory as highlights and achievements which you are proud of?

Answer: Playing the Grand Ole Opry, being on a Grammy
nominated project, right now is playing with Richard and Don again after 20
years!

Lamitschka:  Many music fans today get their
information about artists online. Do you have your own website and what will
fans find there?

Answer:  Our website, www.fbband.com has our
schedule, store, fan club info etc and we vcan be found on facebook as well.

Lamitschka:  What message would you like to send your
European fans?

Answer:  Flashback loves our european fans and we
hope to get over there soon to meet some
of them!
