ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA COUNTRY ARTISTS, CALICO the band
TO JOIN FORCES WITH
WNS GROUP/ARTIST MANAGEMENT
The Musicians Have Enlisted Brad Hunt of WNS Group and Look Forward to Their
Mid-2017 Release,  Under Blue Skies

March 1st, 2017 Los Angeles, CA—CALICO the band are
delighted to be under the umbrella of WNS Group, a Music Marketing and
Artists Management group who are also one of the biggest independent
AAA/Americana Radio Promoters.

Founder of WNS,  Brad Hunt will be working directly with the artists
as their manager.  Before forming WNS 20 years ago, Hunt had worked in
radio and radio promotion, for Elektra and Zoo Records and was a
consultant to Steve Earle’s manager, Jack Emerson and to E Squared
Records in which he contributed to launching the careers of several
bands.

Hunt was also a pioneer in the Americana music genre as an advocate
for blues, Cajun, zydeco and any indigenous North American music to be
included in the classification. His current roster includes Steve
Forbert, Sonny Landreth, Tim O’Brien, Martha Scanlan, The Honeycutters
and the newest addition, CALICO the band.

As California natives, CALICO the band identifies as true California
country music. At the core of the band are Kirsten Proffit and Manda
Mosher with the addition of guests who regularly rotate in. The sound of
the band’s sophomore album, Blue Skies (release mid-2017) is informed
by the duo’s shared love of Crosby, Stills & Nash, the Eagles, and
the Everly Brothers, to name a few, but the duo manage to create their
own unique sound.  “We’re passionate about carrying on the tradition by
incorporating our influences, but through a new lens,” says Proffit.
“The reason our music comes across as honest is because we’re not trying
to be anything but ourselves—this is who we are and what we do. We’ve
been lucky enough to have that California sound permeate who we are
since our childhoods.” The new album is further enriched by the mix,
conducted with signature artistry and insightfulness by the renowned Jim
Scott (Petty, Wilco) through his vintage Neve console.

CALICO the band, had great critical success with their first release
Rancho California, and feel with the help of WNS, they will be able to
bring their special brand of California Country to the forefront of the
Americana music scene. “We’re excited about the future with Brad and
WNS,” said Mosher on the union.  “And we’re really looking forward to
the release of our new record, Under Blue Skies.”

CALICO the band will be touring the Southwest including dates for SXSW in March.
