Legendary singer/songwriter to introduce new album Close Ties during complimentary event
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. (January 19, 2017) – In the second collaboration with the Union
Station Hotel Nashville, the Americana Music Association℠ announces
a special edition of Riffs on the Rails featuring GRAMMY® Award-winning
singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell. The complimentary event is open to
the public and will be held in the grand lobby of the Union Station
Hotel on Wednesday, January 25, at 6:30 p.m.
Rodney
Crowell’s career, which spans nearly four decades, includes five number
one singles, multiple GRAMMY® Awards, the Americana Music
Association’s℠ Lifetime Achievement for Songwriting and collaborations
with some of music’s greats including Emmylou Harris. Crowell’s
forthcoming album Close Ties (slated for release March 31 on New
West Records) is an intimate record that Rolling Stone describes as
collecting “his nuanced personal reflections with the intimate, literary
sophistication that has been a hallmark of the Houston-born tunesmith’s
work since the early Seventies.”
Guests
to the January 25 Riffs on the Rails will enjoy a conversation with
Crowell, interviewed by author and musician Peter Cooper, as he talks
about the making of Close Ties, and performs songs from his new
album. The event will also be broadcasted live on Facebook, hosted by
the Americana Music Association℠ and shared by New West Records and
Union Station Hotel Facebook pages.
Union
Station Hotel’s ongoing Riffs on the Rails live music series gets up
close and personal with singers and songwriters, including legends such
as Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, as well as local songwriters Boss Cotton,
Holly Norman and Donna Frost, among many others. Each session offers
incredible music and an intimate performance from local talent and the
stories that inspired them, whether it was life on the road, broken
hearts or falling in love with Nashville and never looking back.
The
event is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, at 6:30 p.m. and is
complimentary and open to the public. Union Station Hotel offers valet
parking for $15 for up to 2 hours. Additional self-parking can be found
behind the hotel on the south side of the property.
