Chris Young and Cassadee Pope Celebrate Their No. 1 Duet

Chris Young and Cassadee Pope Celebrate
Their No. 1 Duet

Duets have always been a favorite in
country music and the recent pairing by Chris Young and Cassadee Pope, “Think
of You,” was no exception. The single recently went to No. 1 and the two
artists celebrated that feat at an industry party at the Country Music Hall of
Fame and Museum in Nashville, Aug. 16. They were joined in the festivities by
Chris’ co-writers Corey Crowder, who also produced the record, and Josh Hoge.
Chris was familiar with chart-topping
territory, hitting No. 1 with “The Man I Want to Be,” “Aw Naw” and other past
singles. But for young Cassadee, “Think of You” marked her first time atop the
charts. Cassadee made certain to note that as she spoke to the assembled crowd
of industry execs and members of the media. “Chris, you have no idea what
you’ve done for my career and my spirit,” she said, glancing toward her duet
partner.
Chris returned the acknowledgment, taking
several moments to praise Cassadee. “One of my favorite things about ‘Think of
You’ is having Cassadee Pope on it,” he began. “This song would not be the same
without her.” Chris also explained that the duet process is not as simple as
throwing two singers together and hoping for some magic. “Duets are hard,” he
said. “Because it’s one more piece that has to be correct and make the song
what it’s supposed to be. We got this one right,” Chris added.
During the party, Chris was surprised with
a gold plaque for his album I’m Comin’ Over, which features “Think of
You.” The duet partners also received plaques and honors from their respective
record labels, Country Radio Broadcasters and others.
Chris and Cassadee will be teaming up on
the road during Chris’ I’m Comin’ Over Tour, starting in September.
