I don’t believe I’ve ever reviewed a CD for the Mayor of a
town before, but here it is.  Isabel Trobaugh is the Mayor of Elk Point,
South Dakota.  It’s not a large town, but every year there is a lovely
musical heritage festival of country music in it’s many different
styles, as well as gospel, and a catch-all for variety.  Ms. Trobaugh
officiates at this wonderful gathering which will take place on July 16
at the Jefferson School Gym.  It’s a long day 11am to 9pm, and having
been there several times as a performer I know it will be a fun day. A
large contingency of artists are on hand to make the day a fulfilling
one, including a special performance by Elaine Peacock who is also the
hostess of the festival. The famous Terry Smith from Nashville who wrote
‘Far Side Banks of Jordan’ for Johnny & June Carter Cash will be
the headliner, with a ton of great entertainment throughout the day,
Clarence Hayden from Kansas, Deach Koch from South Dakota, Jerry O’Dell
& Country Flavor Band from Iowa, Rick & Harriette Andersen from
Iowa, Danny Bliss from South Dakota, Lee Muller from Kansas, Sandra
Harmon from South Dakota, Dejay Langel from South Dakota, Jasmine
Lounsbury from Iowa, Ty-Kayeh Sterling from Nebraska, Joy Hemmingson
from South Dakota, and of course the Mayor of Elk Point, South Dakota,
Isabel Trobaugh will be playing the piano.  This CD is a very nice
representation of the music Ms. Trobaugh likes to listen to, and of
course play, and ultimately record.  She recorded using a very nice
sounding piano, and occasionally you’ll hear a little guitar backing,
but mostly it’s a lovely CD of instrumentals popular to many in country
music.  Nice piece of work, probably something you will not find at your
local CD music store, however if you like these great songs, you will
love this nicely done CD.
