ACADEMY OF WESTERN ARTISTS ANNOUNCES
WINNERS AND NOMINEES
Awards Show March 12 at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas
The
Academy of Western Artists is proud to announce the 20th annual Will
Rogers Western Award winners and finalists. Awards will be presented at
the Dinner and Awards show on March 12 in the Brown Lupton Ballroom at
Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Winners
have been announced in the Western Trappings categories. The men and
women who are award winners will be recognized at the Dinner and Awards
Show in March.
Western Trappings:
Western Artist – Steve Devenyns, Cody, WY
Cowboy Cartoonist – Anit Klein, Surry, British Columbia, Canada
Saddlemaker – Mark Brogger, Three Forks, MT 59753

Top Five Nominees In Music Announced
Kristyn
Harris, Susie Blue, Cowboy Joe Babcock and Jim Jones have three
nominations each in AWA’s Music Awards. Babcock is nominated for Western
Swing Male, Western Swing Album for “Trail Jazz,” and Western Swing
Song for “Everything’s Gotta Swing In Texas.” Jones picked up
nominations for Western Music Male, Western Music Album for “Race With
The Wind” and Western Music Song for “The Fires Of Goliad.” 
Harris
is nominated for Western Swing Female, Western Swing Album for “Down
The Trail” and Western Music Female. Blue has nominations for Western
Swing Female and, with Susie Blue/Lonesome Fellas, she is nominated for
Western Swing Duo/Group and Western Swing Song for “Love Is A Lingering
Thing.”
Several
nominees received double nods. R.J. Vandygriff is nominated for Western
Swing Album for “Cowboy To The Bone,” and the title cut is nominated
for Western Music Song.
Mikki
Daniel is a nominee for Western Music Female and Western Music Song for
“She Could Ride.” Rizdales are nominated for Pure Country Duo/Group and
Pure Country Album for “Blue Ain’t The Word: A Tribute To The Music Of
Ray Price.”
Tickets for the Dinner and Awards show are $75 per person or $750 per table (table seats eight). There will be a cash bar. Tickets must be purchased by March 2.  No tickets will be sold the night of the event.
There
will be jam sessions Thursday and Friday, March 10 and 11, at the
Longhorn Saloon in Ft. Worth’s Stockyards area. Performers for these
sessions will be announced soon.

Winners will be announced during the 20th
annual Academy of Western Music Dinner and Awards Show on March 12 in
the Brown Lupton Ballroom at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth,
Texas. Dinner is at 6 p.m. The awards show starts at 7:30 p.m.
