COUNTRY MUSIC AND VARIETY PROGRAM “THE JOEY CANYON SHOW” DEBUTS JANUARY 8 ON RFD-TV

Singer/Songwriter Joey Canyon to Host Weekly Show Airing Fridays 10/9 p.m. Central

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 1, 2015)
– January 2016 will kick off in fine style for Traditional
Country-based singer/songwriter, recording artist and performer Joey
Canyon, who will unveil his very own weekly television series on RFD-TV.
Beginning January 8, “The Joey Canyon Show” will air Friday evenings at
10 p.m. EST / 9 p.m. CST.

“About three years ago, I was watching TV one night, but there didn’t
seem as if there was anything worth while watching given two or three
hundred channels on cable,” Canyon said. “I was thinking ‘Can’t someone
put out any quality entertainment for a change?’ It was the Good Lord
that put it in my head that he’d given me all these special gifts and
talents as HE said: ‘You’re going to do it.’ ”

“The Joey Canyon Show” will feature a who’s who of top Country
artists, such as T.G. Sheppard, Moe Bandy, T. Graham Brown, and making
one of her first network appearances in many years – Sylvia, famous for
her iconic hits such as “Nobody” and “Drifter.” Also appearing in one of
the first thirteen episodes will be Matthew and Gunnar Nelson – twin
sons of Rock & Roll icon Rick Nelson, who topped the Billboard Hot
100 in 1990 with “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection.”

Filmed in Canyon’s home base of Colorado, the performer is excited to
show viewers the beauty of his home state. “I really want to show off
my home state to the viewers. I want to be an ambassador for the state
like John Denver was. The 26 openings of the show will be shot in
various locations from Aspen, Glenwood Springs to Vail, as well as
downtown Denver. There’s a certain look that I wanted, and I needed it
to be here. A lot of people didn’t think I would be able to get any
Nashville artists here, but they all wanted to come. That’s been a real
blessing.”

Also a part of “The Joey Canyon Show” will be a “Man on the Street”
interview segment conducted by Canyon’s co-host, acclaimed singer and
songwriter Dean Miller. Also unique to the series will be a weekly “Top
Eight” list.

“Every other show has a top ten, but we’ll have a top eight list,
inspired by bull riders trying to pull eight seconds out of the chute,”
Canyon said.

In addition, the show plans to shine the spotlight on good works done
by some of his favorite charities. “We’ll also be recognizing
individuals and foundations that help other people as well,” Canyon
added.

While Canyon is confident that the series will attract a viewership
that will run across many age demographics, he plans to make the show
appealing to the 45+ age group – a rarity in today’s television market.

“There’s a void there for those folks, and we’re going to fill it,”
he said. “Somewhere along the line, there will be younger people who
will tune in and like the show because it’s a well-produced show with
great music. We’re just being us, and I think people will like what
we’re trying to do here. We want to give quality entertainment to those
that deserve it and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Counting among his musical influences such artists as Vern Gosdin,
Marty Robbins, and Waylon Jennings, Joey Canyon’s music definitely
features a traditional-sounding lean. He has performed on such hallowed
stages as the ACM-winning Palomino Club and has recorded in the finest
recording studios that LA and Nashville has to offer. His production
work has graced broadcasts from NFL Films and PBS, and he has been
presented a citation from the Governor of his home state for writing
“Save Our Colorado,” an anti-pollution song. His current album is titled
The Rhythm Of Livin.’
