NASHVILLE, Tenn.—October 9th, 2015— We Will Stand (Gaither Music Group/CCM United), which just released nationally on CD and DVD, claimed the No. 1 position this week on Billboard’s Music Video chart and on the Christian Music Video chart, according to Nielsen Soundscan. In addition, the We Will Stand audio recording landed at #10 on the contemporary Christian music chart.
A concert event dubbed “the greatest night in the history of contemporary Christian music” by its executive producer, Stan Moser,
the recordings feature 30 of the most popular and awarded contemporary
Christian music (CCM) artists of all time, who gathered for
a-once-in-a-lifetime concert event to celebrate 40 years of history.
“When we first dreamed about creating the We Will Stand
project, we hoped there were thousands of fans like us who would love
to hear these great songs and artists once again. Based on the charts
this week, it looks like we weren’t alone!” stated Moser. “These songs
have brought real hope to listeners for so many years. The message
never changes—Jesus is alive and still available.”
That message in song included performances by a “who’s who of talent” including Amy
Grant, Michael W. Smith, Sandi Patty, Steven Curtis Chapman, Russ Taff,
4Him, Wayne Watson, Laura Story, Nicole C. Mullen, Michael English,
Newsboys, The Imperials, Don Francisco, Phillips Craig & Dean,
Dallas Holm, Jaci Velasquez, Larnelle Harris, Evie (Tornquist), Steve
Green and more.
“I’m
amazed at the great desire of so many artists, labels, producers and
publishers to help bring these songs to life—again,” said Moser. “Bill
Gaither once told me, ‘A good song is written, but a great song is
re-written.’ I might add, ‘Great songs are worth re-recording!’ I’m so
grateful that great songs and art can live forever.”
“A lot of [these artists] have been very influential in my songwriting and my artistry,” stated Nicole C Mullen.
“…The legacy that they’re still living…is amazing. To be partners with
them in singing the gospel is an extremely high honor for me.”
“…I’m
convinced I wouldn’t be sitting in this chair if it hadn’t been for
Andraé Crouch or Love Song, which is one of the very first Christian
albums I ever bought in the ‘70s,” recalled Michael W. Smith,
“all these guys with long hair singing songs about Jesus…you just have
to sort of transport yourself back to that time and imagine what it was
like, and it was like history in the making.”
Highlights of that history are captured on the two-CD and two-DVD We Will Stand
collection. Running just over two hours in length, the DVDs also
capture some of the stories behind the music through interviews with
Grant, Smith, Patty, Bill Gaither and others.
The We Will Stand projects are currently airing as part of a TV special on Dish TV, GaitherTV, TBN, RFD, FamilyNet, CTN, GMC, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, TCT and TLN. It continues to air in Canada on Vision TV, CTS, The Miracle Channel and Hope TV.
