I’ve not had the opportunity, or the pleasure, to hear Joni
Morris before.  This lovely woman with an equally lovely voice just
recorded this equally lovely recording of old and new Gospel songs.
Making her home in California has not prevented her from bringing the
old Gospel favorites back to life with a singularly beautiful voice.
The first song is an incredibly well recorded bluegrass style song.  She
follows this by immediately going into one of the old favorites “In The
Garden” with a very old-time church style presentation, immediately
followed by another great standard, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.”  Ms.
Morris is best known in California as, without a doubt, the finest
Patsy Cline style singer working today.  Her following is huge as she
pursues the ‘Ladies of Country Music’ a musical presentation unequaled
anywhere else in the music world.  This CD, the most recent of her many
recordings, brings her lovely voice, also unequaled, bringing new life,
meaning, and certainly adoration to the old Gospel songs.  She performs,
records, and travels with an excellent band, giving credit to them
all…Erik Antrim; Matt Cardinalli; Brian Clark; Steve Doubville; Bobby
& Darren Green; Kevin Jachetta; Snap Jackson; JayMo Singers; Shane
Kalbach; Giorgi Khokhobashvili; Keith McKee; Fred Treece; and Michael
Whirlow. So you can see, a great deal goes into the recording sessions
of Joni Morris.  The overall ‘acoustic’ flavor so incredibly well done
on this recording is prompting me to forward it to the Rural Roots Music
Commission for their appraisal, and consideration for their CD of the
Year awards.   The Commission really likes ‘originality’ in
presentation, and I think they will definitely find it here.  In
totality, I find this particular CD one of the best old-time Gospel
presentations I’ve heard this year.
