I was very surprised
to hear this album by Jeremie. It’s all his own originals, and that is
very impressive. We’ve been watching him develop over the past few
years here in Iowa, and it’s a real pleasure to see him step out on his
own, just him and his guitar doing a very nice session at Dry Creek
Studio in Omaha. He was well liked at the LeMars Festival in 2014, and
we expect him back, not only there, but at the Oak Tree Opry in Anita,
which recently received a really nice story in the Iowa History
Journal. My favorite song on this project is “Iowa Storm,” Jeremie
seems to know what he’s talking about, and a little bit of sound effect
makes it interesting. I like the sound of his guitar, and he plays it
well. Most of his songs are songs of hope, songs of love, songs of
friendship. That’s all pretty positive stuff, so unlike modern
composers who are lost in a sea of negativity. He’s kind of acoustic
country, and needs no outrageous ‘noise’ to hide his voice. I’d say he
leans a little toward folk music, but not quite, and he definitely is
not what I would label modern country. Another of my favorite’s on this
nice work is “Hope For Today.” Jeremie knows the world seems insane at
times, and “Hope For Today” does take some of the pain away. Jeremie
says “That growing up on a farm in Iowa he learned the importance of
faith. We all struggle through life in various ways, some more than
others. Having gone through several valleys in my life, I know there’s
light at the end of the tunnel.” And, his closing song “Fly Where The
Eagles Fly” gives certitude to this recorded effort, it brings the
‘creative process’ to it’s rightful place. Good going Jeremie, this one
goes to the Rural Roots Music Commission.
