COUNTRY MUSIC TRIUMPHS IN THE U.K.
AND IRELAND!

NASHVILLE – Country Music was king in the U.K. and Dublin
this past weekend as CMA hosted the Second Annual International Marketing Summit
as well as a diverse lineup of special events ranging from songwriters’ showcases
to industry panels, to star-packed sold out arena concerts.

The Daily Mirror noted that “Thousands of
fans traveled hundreds of miles from every corner of the U.K.,” and “you got
a real sense that America’s mainstream Country superstars are on the verge of
something big in the U.K.”

Events
for the weekend included the Second Annual CMA International Marketing Summit;
an evening with the storytellers behind the hits with CMA Songwriters Series,
marking the third time the Series has played in the region; a special BBC “Brad
Paisley
and Friends” songwriters show taping at the iconic BBC Radio
Theatre; and two crowning sold out C2C (Country To Country) concerts, two nights
each, at The O2 in both Dublin and London in association with The 02 and SJM Concerts
that featured Dierks Bentley, Dixie Chicks,
Martina McBride
(London only), Paisley, Rascal Flatts,
The Band Perry, Chris Young, and Zac Brown Band.

“Seeing firsthand the enthusiastic response from
the fans, the interest from our constituents, the overwhelmingly positive media
coverage, and the potential for business growth was rewarding and created the
foundation for future international initiatives,” said Sarah Trahern,
CMA Chief Executive Officer.

CMA
partnered with the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp for a Town Square
booth, where they conducted market research about Country Music consumption. CMA
also presented two public panels at the British Music Experience on songwriting
and music publishing that featured experts including duo Striking Matches. The
duo’s pop up stage performances at C2C and CMA Songwriters Series performance
were hailed as some of the weekend’s highlights. CMA also teamed with BBC to
host a joint BBC/CMA reception at the BBC Media Café with 250 invited guests
who were treated to an acoustic performance by The Shires.

Fifteen CMA Board Members made the trip to London to
lend their expertise to a weekend that was jam packed with something for both
fans and industry alike.

The
weekend of CMA events put Country Music front and center on an international stage.
According to The Daily Telegraph, “This was as close to Nashville as
London had ever been. In this internet era, Country Music is, for the first time,
readily accessible to U.K. fans.”

U.K. music trade publication Music Week announced,
“With a long weekend of activity…including London and Dublin festivals, the
Country Music genre is experiencing the biggest push that it’s had in the U.K. in years.”

Country Music continues to grow in popularity and strength
around the world as evidenced by the overwhelming success of this weekend’s
events. Part of that success is due, according to the London Evening Standard,
to the idea that “Country has lived long and prospered because it has never
been afraid to evolve.”

CMA
continues to act on its mission to heighten the awareness of Country Music and
support its ongoing growth. In addition to CMA’s international events, such
as those in London and Dublin over the weekend, throughout the year CMA honors
individuals of the international community with awards including the International
Country Broadcaster Award, International Artist Achievement Award, Global Country
Music Artist Award, Wesley Rose International Media Achievement Award, and the
prestigious Jo Walker-Meador International Award, which is named for the original executive director of CMA.

Through the presentation of awards and events like
the International Marketing Summit and CMA Songwriters Series, CMA seeks to recognize
and empower its international membership and Country Music fans globally.
