Opening a great country/bluegrass album with an Albert
Brumley song is sure to attract attention, and it surely does in the
hands and voice of this lovely gospel singer from Ohio.  Not only a
terrific singer, with a ‘believe me’ attitude, but a great songwriter
too.  Eight of the twelve songs are hers.  Though she now lives in Ohio,
her background, her music, her inspirations have come from the hills of
Kentucky where she grew up.  According to her printed insert, Tammy
says, “Your talent is God’s gift to you.  What you do with it is your
gift back to God.”  How her record company, Little Creek Records managed
to gather together this incredibly ‘gifted’ group of musicians amazes
me.  From the very outset, they are right on the button on every song of
this album.  I’ve had the opportunity to work with Rob Ickes before,
he’s an incredibly talented Dobro player.  Add to this Andy Leftwich
on mandolin (he’s one of our Hall of Fame nominees) and Molly
Cherryholmes on fiddle, piecing that together with Ron Block on guitar
and banjo, some additional fiddle from Aubrey Haynie, and the upright
bass by Mark Fain (also the producer, and a good job he’s done).  Add to
that the additional help of Sharon (Skaggs) and Cheryl White, Jeff
Parker, Herb Pedersen Dale Ann Bradley, Steve Gulley, and Jamie Dailey
doing harmonies, and you already know this is a one-of-a-kind ‘gift’
from the Bluegrass world of music.  Recorded at Ricky Skaggs studio in
Nashville, how it could not be ‘perfect?’  It takes a special ‘ear’ to
‘hear’ good acoustic music in the studio and it’s all very apparent
here.  This is so different than the ‘imitation-country’ we hear today
on country music top-40.  Nothing similar at all.  If you’ve been
looking for some truth in music, some answers, maybe not understanding
what Christ means to you, perhaps needing consolation…THIS is the
album you need.  You will want to listen over and over to get the full
meaning of everything that appears on this ‘gift’ from an incredibly
‘gifted’ singer/songwriter, Tammy Jones Robinette.  Noah’s ark to
Daddy’s mountains is covered with a many-colored blanket of love,
adoration, respect, and a beautiful voice. Tammy Jones Robinette, P O
