I have always been captivated by upper Midwest vocalists
that take their ‘gift’ of music wherever it will take them.  Sara
Sennert had an amazing experience that led her to not only sing, but to
write about, a homeless man in a car.  The song is “His Story” and is a
true experience.  Sara and her family were leaving the WalMart the day
after Christmas, and parked next to them was a man sitting in his car.
I’ll let Sara tell the story.  “It was so sad as I studied him and his
car full of things.  Obviously he wasn’t waiting for anyone, he was in
his ‘home’ soaking up some winter sun.  This memory would not leave me
and a couple weeks later I wrote this song.  This entire gospel CD is my
way of spreading the message for people to pray for the homeless.  It’s
my prayer to those living on the river banks, in their cars, on city
streets, under the bridges and wherever they find shelter.”  Sara’s
right on the mark about the homeless.  It’s so strange we have this in
such a ‘rich’ country.  I’m also very impressed with the entire musical
backing by Dave Russell at the North 40 Studios.  The production and
engineering is super.  I especially enjoyed the steel on Terry Smith’s
“Far Side Banks of Jordan.”  Country all the way, classic and
traditional just the way I like it.  Sara Sennert has been in the world
of CD production with several other CD’s, and this time she has
certainly provided us, the listener, with a wonderful new treat.  For
those of you who might recognize her name, you know she is the daughter
of the Singing Farmer, Ervin Pickhinke, another of our stalwart ‘real’
country singers in the upper Midwest.  Sara recorded “Living Country”
with her dad.  This one goes to the Rural Roots Music Commission for
their appraisal of this fine ‘real’ country offering.  psennert@knology.net
