Atlanta, Georgia: On the heels of announcing he would not tour in
2014 to concentrate on making his next album, Kenny Chesney rolled into
Atlanta strong – rocking 49,302 fans and having the time of his life at
the Georgia Dome stop on his 2013 No Shoes Nation Tour. In addition to
sets by tourmates Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves, Zac Brown came out
– after a killer set by his own band – to join Chesney for a jam on
Steve Miller’s classic “The Joker” and Bob Marley & the Wailers’
“Three Little Birds”

“We didn’t burn Atlanta down,” Chesney said, following a
high-energy nearly two hour set, “but they sure set us on fire. Man, the
energy in the Georgia Dome hit us so hard, and it never let up. It was
the kind of night artists dream of. And then I came off stage so ramped
up, I picked bluegrass with some buddies from college (members of Blue
Highway) ‘til almost two a.m.”

The Atlanta Journal Constitution concurred, writing,
“…every molecule was dedicated to entertaining his faithful flock, which
Chesney and his seven-piece band achieved by unleashing a torrent of
singalongs and hard-working showmanship.”

With 19 stadiums on this years “stripped-back” No Shoes
Nation Tour, including Anaheim’s Angels Stadium, Dallas’ Texas Stadium,
Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium and Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, the
4-time Country Music Association and 4-consecutive Academy of Country
Music Entertainer of the Year is rolling into E. Rutherford, NJ’s
MetLife Stadium this weekend, Detroit’s Ford Field next weekend and
closing his tour-out with a two night stand at Boston’s Gillette Stadium
on August 23-24.

“I didn’t know when we put this tour together, I’d want
to spend as much time making the next record as I do,” allows the man
who’s sold over a million tickets on every tour since 2002 – and hit his
millionth ticket mark for 2013 in early June. “So, to be able to close
out the No Shoes Nation Tour with four major stadium shows in three
incredible cities, well, that looks like great planning, but it’s really
just some incredible luck.”

Chesney will also be playing “Good Morning America”’s
Summer Concert Series August 9, live from Central Park. The three song
teaser will be just enough to whet people’s appetites for the upcoming
shows. Chesney will also be the subject of a CBS “Sunday Morning”
profile, celebrating his Spread the Love Fund and his deeply reflective
Life on A Rock, the mostly self-penned song cycle that marked his
seventh all-genre #1 Billboard Top 200 Albums debut.

The introspective Life On A Rock has been called “a bold
move” by The Washington Post, “a contemplative meditation” by The
Chicago Tribune and “the most personal work he’s ever done” by
Billboard, who also noted, “time will likely prove it to be among his
best-loved by fans.” For the man The Wall Street Journal headlined “The
King of the Road” in a massive two page feature earlier this year, the
road remains the place he comes alive, but it is the music that brought
him here; next year, that will be his focus, but right now, he’s playing
every sold-out stadium show for all its worth.
