NASHVILLE,
Tenn. (April 2, 2013) – New artist Shannon Selig, who recently
relocated to Nashville from the two places she called home – Maine and
Nova Scotia – has teamed with Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer
Chad Carlson to mix her debut album, Perfectly Imperfect, which is due
out April 16 on Blue Chicory Records.

Carlson, who won two Grammys (Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year) for his work on Taylor Swift’s Fearless, will serve as mixing engineer on the 11-song release.

“Chad
is such a talented engineer,” Selig says. “Not only does he have Grammy
awards to his credit, but he is down to earth and genuinely cares about
my album. He is so supportive and willing to help and I am honored to
have him mix
Perfectly Imperfect.”
Carlson,
who owns Hippo Sound in Nashville, has worked with Swift on multiple
projects, Jewel, Katie Armiger, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Isaak, Alison
Krauss and others
.

“This girl
knows who she is,” Carlson says of Selig. “Great songs, strong emotional
voice and confidence that can be heard on every track.”

Selig’s debut album, being released on the independent Blue Chicory Records, combines songs
written by the American/Canadian singer/songwriter with songs from top
Music City tunesmiths for a fresh collection of music with a purpose.

“I am so
honored that I am able to release my debut album here in Nashville. I
have always known I wanted to become a positive role model in the
community and I am blessed to be able to do that through music,” Selig
says. “The process of preparing for this album has been years in the
making and it has shaped me into the woman I am today. I am so excited
to share this album with the world.”
Even
at 9 years old, Shannon Selig had a charisma that made few doubt her
when the young singer said “I just want to change people’s lives with my
voice.”

Fast forward a decade and half later and Selig has done a good job reaching her goal throughout
Maine and Nova Scotia. With dual citizenship to her credit, Selig sang
her way across the continent, making fans on both sides of the border.
Winner of the
New England Country Music Association Songwriter of the Year in 2013 and
2012, Selig also won the North American Country Music Association award
for Horizon Songwriter both years. Selig also was named New England
Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year in 2011, and, the
next year, claimed the win for Horizon Female Vocalist Award 2012
Internationally.
Selig calls a
new city home now. A few months ago, the country singer/songwriter
relocated to Nashville, ready to walk the talk she had proclaimed since
her childhood.
On April 16, Selig will release Perfectly Imperfect. After
choosing the songs, the Berklee College of Music alumna gathered a
lineup of first call musicians to record the final project at Catch This
Music Studios, owned by Eddie Robba.
Mike Stankiewicz engineered the album, with Music Row veteran Gary Sadker of Red Ridge Entertainment, producing.
A CD Release Party is set for April 18 at The Rutledge.
With
an album in-hand and a lineup of tour dates, Selig sets out on the next
phase of her career with a message that remains unchanged: “I just want
to change people’s lives with my voice.”
