Jake Owen’s baby girl Pearl is due in three weeks. And he and his wife
Lacey are feeling completely ready. Not necessarily in a
prepared-childbirth Lamaze class sort of way. More like in a tour-bus
way. Owen told me on the red carpet at last week’s CMA Awards he’s
already been working with the designers to make his new tour bus
baby-friendly. And he’s been singing to Lacey and her belly. But the
newlyweds said that’s all the prep work they are going to do — because
their doctor told them so. “She said women have been having babies for
thousands and thousands of years until modern society decided that every
woman needs to go spend hours in a Lamaze class,” Owen said. “It’s
gonna be a pretty awesome birth. She’s a really easygoing mother
already. She’s been calm the whole pregnancy. And to me, she’s even more
beautiful than she’s ever been.” And Mrs. Owen thinks the birth will be
a
breeze because of her husband’s attitude. “I think when you’re with a
person who makes you feel amazing, having the baby will be easy,” she
said. I hope she’s right. Love like theirs can alleviate a lot of pain.
But an epidural’s not bad either.
