Rebel Records Releases Fresh Single from Two-Time IBMA Winner, Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice

“The Story Of The Day That I Died” Available To Radio Today, Complete Project To Be Released March 12th

Charlottesville, VA. (November 6, 2012)—Rebel Records is proud to announce the release of “The Story Of The Day That I Died”, a brand new single from Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice. The new song is available to radio programmers today and the complete project, Story Of The Day That I Died, will be released March 12th
When Junior Sisk heard his name called as the winner of Song Of The Year for “A Far Cry From Lester And Earl” from the stage of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee during the recent International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, he could hardly believe it and could barely speak through his tears of joy. Sisk and his co-writers, Tim Massey and Rick Pardue
hugged each other in disbelief and excitement as the sold-out crowd
rose to their feet and cheered them on. It wasn’t until later in the
evening, when Sisk again heard his name called as winner of Album Of The Year for his band’s latest Rebel Records CD, The Heart Of A Song,
that he managed to gain composure and express appreciation for his
colleagues, friends and fans. It was a big night for a man who has been
regarded as being one of bluegrass music’s most honest voices in the
genre’s history.
Throughout
his music career, Sisk has performed with a plethora of topnotch bands:
his family’s band – Dreamin’ Creek, Wyatt Rice And Santa Cruz, The Lost
And Found and then eventually with Blueridge where Sisk partnered with
mandolinist Alan Bibey from 2001 to 2006. In 2007, he re-formed Junior
Sisk & Ramblers Choice (a band that had a short but successful run
in the mid 90’s) and has been going strong ever since. Over the years,
his haunting, almost lonesome vocals have earned him the devotion of
countless traditional bluegrass fans from all over the world so it comes
as no surprise that his peers would recognize his contributions and
honor him on what has become known as bluegrass music’s biggest night.
But with the accolades of Song of The Year and Album of the Year,
comes a certain amount of expectancy from those same peers as well as
Sisk’s fans as to what he and Ramblers Choice will present next.
Rebel
Records is excited to present the next chapter in the career of Junior
Sisk & Ramblers Choice in the form of a brand new single, “The Story Of The Day That I Died”, a
 tongue
in cheek tune about a man who faked his own death in an effort to keep
his unfaithful wife from taking half of his possessions upon an
impending divorce. Written by fellow musician Ashby Frank, “The Story Of The Day That I Died”
has been a song in the making for quite some time. “I wrote most of
this song about nine years ago on a paper bag while sitting in my car
during a snow storm in a McDonald’s parking lot in Pikeville, Kentucky,”
states Frank. “I played what I had of the song for Junior and his wife,
Susan, at their home one night shortly after I wrote it. He liked it
and even suggested the theme for the ending of the song.” According to
Frank, Sisk kept asking him about it, resulting in Frank giving the song
another work-over, and ultimately pitching it to Sisk again. The song
not only landed on the record, but is the title cut of the new project
due for release next Spring. “I’m so proud that he decided to recorded
it,” continues Frank. “Junior Sisk is not just one of my favorite
singers and writers alive, but he’s also one of my favorite people in
the world and I couldn’t be happier with the way he and Rambler’s Choice
performed it on the album.”
