ON THE ROAD WITH BOB & SHEILA EVERHART
Anita, Iowa…..”Rain was a welcome sight here in the
hinterlands of Iowa,” Bob Everhart reported, “but it didn’t slow down
attendance for the Storm Seymour show at the Oak Tree Opry in Anita.
Storm is an internationally known country music recording artist, doing
well on the European charts, not only with classic and traditional
country music but gospel music as well. He’s a Tama Indian, living near
Tama, Iowa, where their reservation is located, and is very active
keeping country music alive where he spends most of his time. He and
his wife are orphan children mentors, and more than 60 children have
passed through their home as they take them in, and care for them.

Performance Center, and it was a delightful evening of great country
music with superb harmonies throughout the evening.”

the year, which was the Rural Roots Music Gathering in Fremont,
Nebraska, where Hank Thompson’s fiddler Marvin Bredemeier was inducted
into America’s Old Time Fiddler’s Hall of Fame. “We had large crowds
all weekend,” Everhart noted, “except for Saturday night’s Nebraska Big
Red football game. So, we took a little dip, but we were very satisfied
with attendance all weekend. I was especially pleased with the great
musicians that were on hand to make it a truly ‘classic’ country
program.”

created for the Smithsonian Institution, who they record for. “We have
six recorded projects out with the Smithsonian,” Everhart noted, and the
program we’re going to do in Florida is a compilation of some of those
historical songs, as well as the stories about how they came to be
written, and who wrote them. It’s interesting to say the least. The
Smithsonian calls it a ‘Traveling Museum of Music.’ We start in
Illinois and work our way down to the Tampa, Florida, area for most of
the shows.”

cool. Featured acts are Dale Eichor and Bobby Awe. It will be a
complete sell-out, these guys are glued to traditional and classic
country music. Eichor was inducted into the Disc Jockey Hall of Fame in
Nashville, and Bobby Awe hosted his own television show in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa, for many years. They are both very popular wherever they
go.”

Iowa has been getting a little rain, but even that
doesn’t discourage folks according to Everhart. “We got some nice rain,
but most of our farmers have their corn and soybeans already picked.
It doesn’t stop our Pioneer Music Museum from having a leak though, so
you can be sure we’ll be doing some benefit shows come springtime.”
