Noel
Flynn hails from Athboy, Co. Meath, Ireland
Noel
lived in Nottingham, for a number of years before returning home to
his native Co. Meath. Having been a lifelong country fan, he spent
four years as a DJ before making the leap into recording an album of
his own.
When
Noel was asked “how he got into country music”?
I
have always loved country music ever since I was a young boy”.
I
first started singing professionally about 3 years ago now.
My
first album ‘Turn Back The Years’ was released in December 2009.
The
album is a mixture of Irish and American country from Johnny McEvoy’s
‘Long, Long Before Your Time’ to Colin Raye’s ‘Love Me’. From
the traditional folk song ‘Hard Times’ to the Ernest Tubb/Robert
Mizzell hit ‘Thanks A Lot’. I chose the songs that have meaning
for me in the hope they would appeal to others.
Turn
Back The Years’ attracted a lot of attention from the LEINSTER
region and was a strong platform for Noel to start building his
singing career. However it was the release of his follow-up single
‘Talking To Your Picture’ that gave Noel national attention.
Noel’s skilful way of putting across the lyrics with sincerity
captured the attention of radio stations across Ireland, including
those that feature predominantly American material; and the song
received massive airplay.
In
2010 Noel was honoured to win ‘Best Male Newcomer’ in the West
Limerick 102 Country Music Awards. In May 2011 Noel released his
second album ‘The Heart That Beats In Ireland 2011,
which
includes the singles ‘Talking to Your Picture’ which was sent to him
by Richard Harte, ‘Wrong Oh So Wrong’ which was written by Vic.
Holdroyd, ‘Taking All The Memories’ which was written by J.D.
Cole and Vic. Holdroyd and ‘These Lips Don’t Know How To Say
Goodbye’, which is a ‘Doug Stone’ cover. This album is also a
mixture of Irish and American country.
