NASHVILLE,
Tenn. (July 26, 2012) – Mustang Sally’s longtime fiddle player and band
member Sarah Wilfong has announced that she and her husband, Ted
Joblin, are expecting their first child in January. Wilfong has decided
to leave the band in the coming weeks as she settles into her new role
as an expectant mom.

“I
will miss playing with Mustang Sally terribly, but being on the road
isn’t going to allow me to be the kind of parent I want to be,” Wilfong
says. “Besides, morning sickness and bus travel don’t go together, let
me tell you!”
The remaining members of Mustang Sally are sad for Wilfong’s departure, but share her excitement about the baby.
“We’re
very sad to see Sarah go,” says band leader and drummer Lisa Romeo.
“She isn’t just a great musician, but also a great friend and a great
person. Working with her made the road life a lot easier. I could always
count on her for a positive thought or a practical solution to a
problem. And every now and then, Sarah also was the band’s human
encyclopedia and thesaurus!
“On
the other hand, though, I’m looking forward to being an aunt and
meeting the baby. I’m especially excited if the baby is a girl, because I
know Sarah will name the baby ‘Sally’ in honor of the band,” Romeo
says, laughing.
“My
kid is going to be so spoiled by its Mustang Sally aunties and uncle,”
Wilfong says. “That’s one lucky kid! Now all the band needs is to design
a Mustang Sally onesie!”
No announcement has been made regarding Wilfong’s replacement.
