Today is a special day in the life of one of the Bluegrass
Master Legends, Jesse McReynolds. Jesse is 83 years old today.
Yesterday, Jesse and his wife Joy invited Julie and I to his birthday party on
the top of the hill at Pick Inn. He was joined by his closest family and
friends. Bluegrass legend Curly Sechler was present, Larry Stephenson,
Ronnie Reno, and a host of others. Great food, camaraderie, and a great
time was had by all. Joy really made this a special day for Jesse at
their beautiful haven at Pick Inn. If I ever wanted a home where I would
be the envy of everyone, it is at the Pick Inn. What a beautiful place of
quiet and beauty, with wild turkeys, baby deer, and on and on, and Joy as a
perfect host, and Jesse enjoying every minute of this super day. Today is
Jesse’s real birthday, but yesterday was the perfect day to celebrate a
day ahead of time so that Jesse could have his family and friends be with him,
and Julie and I were honored to be invited. There were so many others
that I did not know, but there was no loss of meeting new friends, visiting
with old friends, and there was no loss of stories of Jesse, the world, the
weather, and most of all happiness on Jesse McReynolds 83rd birthday
with many more to come. Jesse looked as good as I have ever seen him, but
he keeps himself healthy and wise. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSE.
