BELLAMY BROTHERS INSTATED AS HONORARY TEXAS RANGERS
Nashville, Tenn. (July 11, 2012) – Legendary country music duo the Bellamy Brothers were recently inducted into an equally legendary organization, The Former Texas Rangers Foundation.  The foundation is made up of members who served as Texas Rangers and have now retired. The Bellamys were presented with plaques, badges, and pins making them honorary Texas Rangers.
The
relationship between the Bellamys and the Texas Rangers was initially
formed when the Bellamys played the foundation’s Silver Star Gala in the
fall of 2011. The Rangers were so impressed with the performance that
they decided to honor the country crooners by making them their own.
â€śWe were stunned when they told us,” says Howard Bellamy. “The Texas Rangers are such a classic image in the American west.”
David Bellamy adds, “Every boy dreams of being a Texas Ranger and now we have the badges to prove it.”
The
Texas Rangers were unofficially formed in 1823 when Stephen F. Austin
employed 10 men to protect American families settling in Texas after the
Mexican War of Independence. They became an official law enforcement
agency in 1835 making the Rangers the 2nd oldest of all
state-level law enforcement agencies. The Rangers dealt with some of the
most memorable criminal cases of the Old West including John Wesley
Harding and Bonnie and Clyde. They have also been the subject of much
fictional work from pulp novels to the television show, Walker, Texas Ranger.
Throughout their 30 plus year career, the multi-platinum selling Bellamy Brothers have charted 14 #1 Hits on
the US country and pop music charts.   Hits like “Let Your Love Flow,”
“If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me),”
“Redneck Girl,” and “Old Hippie” helped to make the brothers household
names.  Today, their seamless harmonies remain perfectly intact as they
continue to travel the United States and European tour circuits,
performing over 180 dates each year. Personal Message from the Bellamy Brothers
