YouTube Sensation Jessica Frech Premieres People of Wal-Mart Part Two
Just like Layaway, Jessica Frech returns with a sequel to the viral sensation “People of Wal-Mart” debuting today on her YouTube Channel. After more than 9 million views on her premiere ode to the retail supercenter, the timing was perfect to kick off the holiday shopping season.
“I was overwhelmed by the response to the first video,” says singer-songwriter Jessica Frech. “What started out as a total fluke, fun session turned into a viral video poke at our fashion choices. I can’t say I’m much better, I’ve rocked my own set of SpongeBob SquarePants jammies more than once to our local Wal-Mart.”

The initial inspiration for the satire came when Jessica was bored in class and stumbled across the PeopleofWalmart.com site. As an aspiring songwriter and student at Belmont University in Nashville, it became a personal challenge and comedic adventure to immortalize these images in a song. Enlisting the help of her friends and fellow students, the video developed into an online splash that garnered international exposure.
“People of Wal-Mart” developed a life beyond Twitter and Facebook as her videos entered the spotlight on FOX News, MSNBC, AOL, G4, Jimmy Fallon and BuzzFeed. “It was unbelievable and exciting to see so many not only laughing and singing along with my lyrics, but people were also commenting on my voice. Who would have thought that this would be my first introduction on the music scene?”
This Norah Jones and Barenaked Ladies melded sound mixed with Zooey Deschanel’s quirky spirit has a busy holiday season ahead. National ad campaigns are to be announced soon and her first Christmas EP hits the market December 5th.
