World-Famous Country Radio Station 650 AM WSM Says “Happy Birthday” to Country Legend George Jones With All-Day Programming, New Website

Nashville, Tenn. – September 8, 2011 – As George Jones celebrates his 80th birthday Mon., Sept. 12, country music’s most widely recognized and awarded radio station, Nashville’s 650 AM WSM, is inviting fans from around the world to join in an all-day on-air and online birthday party in honor of the country legend.
The party is set to include Jones classics every hour 12 midnight – 7 p.m., listener birthday greetings and requests throughout the day, and a special edition of “The Eddie Stubbs Show” 7 p.m. – midnight featuring nothing but George Jones recordings.
The party will also go online at WSM’s new website, wsmonline.com, as listeners from around the world visiting the site can not only listen to the Jones-related programming, but also submit their own birthday wishes or requests for their favorite Jones tunes and enter to win limited-edition prints celebrating Jones’ milestone birthday and tickets to a Grand Ole Opry performance also celebrating Jones’ big day. 
“We’re excited to launch this brand new website by celebrating one of the most influential artists ever in the history of the music we play,” said Joe Limardi, 650 AM WSM Operation Manager. “George Jones is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, but he’s also made his mark on everything else listeners hear on the station from bluegrass, to Americana and gospel. It’s going to be quite a day for quite a legend.”
