Just in time for Bill Monroe’s birthday, the new single release, “A Light in My Window, Again” by CAROLINA ROAD, is now out to radio via AirplayDirect.com.  The song was written by Tom T and Dixie Hall and was inspired by Gov. Paul E. Patton’s speech at the dedication of the Bill Monroe home place.  The tune appears on the band’s upcoming album, BACK TO MY ROOTS releasing October 11, 2011.  CAROLINA ROAD, with eight albums to their credit, has certainly returned to their traditional style of music created over a decade ago with this new project.

BACK TO MY ROOTS features new CAROLINA ROAD band member and bluegrass veteran Tommy Long. His strong, soulful baritone lead vocals, combined with Lorraine Jordan’s tenor vocals, create a wonderful harmony blend that compliments this band’s traditional style of music.  They are joined by six year CAROLINA ROAD veterans, Ben Greene (banjo), Josh Goforth (fiddle) and Eddie Biggerstaff (bass.)

“Great new CD from Carolina Road.  Good mix of standards and new stuff.   The addition of Tommy Long vocals and Eddie Biggerstaff’s solid bass gives that great traditional sound we like from Carolina Road.   Ben Greene never sounded better.  Nice solid sound from Carolina Road .  May be their best yet,” said Larry Nixon,  PineCone Bluegrass Show (WQDR) in Raleigh,  NC.

Lorraine Jordan has an extensive career in bluegrass music – not only serving as band leader for CAROLINA ROAD and being part of the group’s numerous awards through the years – but also having won the prestigious IBMA Recorded Event of the Year in 2006 and 2009 as the pioneer of the Daughters of Bluegrass.

CAROLINA ROAD has earned a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in Bluegrass today hitting the road hard this season with over 70 dates confirmed on their 2011/2012 BACK TO MY ROOTS Tour.   For more information on CAROLINA ROAD, their music, and complete tour schedule, please visit CarolinaRoadBand.com.  For more information on Rural Rhythm Records, please visit RuralRhythm.com
