The Doobie Brothers will release A Brighter Day

A BRIGHTER DAY IS DOOBIES FOURTH SINGLE FROM THEIR ALBUM WORLD GONE CRAZY
FEEL GOOD TRACK GOES TO RADIO THIS WEEK
This week, the Doobie Brothers will release “A Brighter Day,” the fourth single from their acclaimed WORLD GONE CRAZY album, their first new album in a decade.  Written by Tom Johnston, the song’s lyrics combine social and political awareness with the call for brotherly love and positive vibes, all underscored with classic Doobie feel-good rhythms. The song goes to radio this week.
When people go to war it hurts us all you see
They don’t feel the need to congregate
I may be just a boy but I am not a fool
Our leaders need to simplify instead of complicate
So everybody shout to your brother
Everybody sing let your spirit fly away
Oh oh oh shout to your brother
So all the people have a brighter day
Late last year, original members Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston, and 30-year plus member and country producer/songwriter/player John McFee (Southern Pacific) marked a new chapter with the delivery of a potent album – World Gone Crazy (HOR Records), featuring a guest appearance by Country Music Hall of Famer Willie Nelson and former Doobie member Michael McDonald.  It’s their first new album in a decade, with tracks like “Far From Home” and their country single “World Gone Crazy” marking a renaissance of the propulsive roots-based, harmony laden, guitar driven style that sold an estimated 30 million records over the course of four decades. “Far From Home,” the third single release, became the Doobies first Top 20 track in over 20 years, and in a first for the USO, the video for the song world premiered on the USO website and TV channel. The video for “World Gone Crazy” was a Most Played Video at GAC. The Doobie Brothers made several stops into Nashville to appear on the Grand Ole Opry and to film a Crossroads special with Luke Bryan. Bryan and the Doobies performance of “China Grove” was in heavy rotation on the CMT channel.
As durable as American steel, Northern California’s Doobie Brothers celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. Beginning with their multi-million-selling sophomore collection Toulouse Street (1972), the Doobies have recorded three multi-platinum albums, four platinum sets, and four gold records. Their Best of the Doobies (1976) has sold 10 million copies – a rare “diamond record.”Their No. 1 singles “Black Water” (1974) and “What a Fool Believes” (1979), both gold, lead a catalog of indelible songs that include “Listen to the Music,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me),” “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Minute By Minute,” “Real Love,” “The Doctor,” “China Grove” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway.”
