Oklahoman Becky Wright Named “Female Songwriter of the Year”

July 5^th, 2011, Tahlequah, Oklahoma:  Becky Wright, singer/songwriter and orphan and adoption advocate, was named the “Female Songwriter of the Year” at the annual King Country Agape Fest Fan Appreciation Awards. The 4-day Christian music festival, in its 11^th year, was held just south of Ft. Worth in Granbury, TX, bringing artists from across the USA. Wright was also named the 2008 Female Songwriter, and won “Duo of the Year” in 2006, with Tommy Brandt. She served again this year as a judge for the talent and songwriting competitions, and taught a workshop entitled “Defining Success: Pursuing Passion & Purpose”.  Fifteen of Becky’s songs have been recorded on Christian and country artist projects (besides her own albums), and three songs on video/film.  One of those artists, 17-year-old Renee Spencer, recorded Wright’s song “Amazed”, and won the New Horizon Award at the Agape Fest Awards Show Saturday evening, as well. www.kingcountryagapefest.com

Wright, a former music teacher, is the Founder and Director of Tahlequah Orphan & Adoption Ministries. Their mission is to enlist and provide support for foster and adoptive families, and to “remember the orphan” next door and globally through various means. Ms. Wright is excited to collaborate with Oklahoma’s new foster care recruitment initiative www.111project.org . Becky is an Artist Ambassador for Kids Alive International, a non-profit ministry to rescue orphans and at-risk children in 17 countries through child sponsorship, residential homes, schools, and medical clinics. www.kidsalive.org  Much of Becky’s music and speaking events focus on orphan advocacy, and she is a member of the Christian Alliance for Orphans.
