LUCIE DIAMOND ANNOUNCED AS NEW JUDGE FOR THE UK SONGWRITING CONTEST

LUCIE DIAMOND ANNOUNCED AS NEW JUDGE FOR THE UK SONGWRITING CONTEST

Multi award winning singer/songwriter Lucie Diamond has joined the UKSC team and she will help to select winners of the next contest. She is also looking for new songs for her next album and will be watching out for suitable UKSC entries. Lucie first shot to fame in 2006 when she beat Dolly Parton and Faith Hill by winning Female Artist of the Year and also Country Artist of the Year at The European Country Awards. Since then she has toured the world, had great success and topped the charts in many countries. She was described by the UK’s biggest selling newspaper, The Sun, as “A cross between Leanne Rimes and Joss Stone” and “The UK’s number one country music export”.

Although hugely successful in the international country music scene Lucie has told us that she is now keen to move on as she expands into other styles close to her heart, but will still record in Nashville as not to completely lose her style.

The UK Songwriting Contest provides an opportunity for budding songwriters to have their work showcased to top music industry professionals in London and to be discovered and recorded by well known producers. With an annual prize fund of over ÂŁ300,000 it is one of the world’s most popular songwriting events and every year it receives thousands of entries from songwriters from all over the globe. It was launched in 2002 in association with the BRIT TRust (of BRIT Awards fame) to encourage and promote the art of songwriting and over the years The BRIT School, The BRIT Studio, Roland UK, Music Aid International and BBC Radio have all supported the event.

The UKSC team of judges includes many top industry names including producer Stuart Epps (Elton John, Robbie Williams, Led Zeppelin, Bill Wyman, Paul Weller, Oasis), BRIT Award winning producer, songwriter and musical director Simon Ellis (S Club 7, Britney Spears) and producer and arranger Richard Niles (Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Boy Zone, Take That, Mariah Carey, Cliff Richard). UKSC winner, Natalie Chua, was spotted and signed by Simon Cowell (she went on to receive a Platinum Album Award for her work with Simon’s band Angelis) and many other contest entrants have been signed to publishing and recording deals.

The UKSC is pleased to announce that singer/songwriter Lucie Diamond has joined the prestigious team of judges and we believe she will be a very valuable addition to the judging panels.

Watch out for her next album which will feature an exciting new mix of sounds! Find out more at http://facebook.com/lucie.diamond page
