NASHVILLE, TN-Aspiring singer/songwriter, Karen Waldrup, makes her debut on Bravo’s “Platinum
Karen WaldrupHit” reality series Monday, May 30 at 10/9c. With Jewel hosting and former “American Idol” judge Kara Dioguardi serving as head judge, Waldrup will test her songwriting abilities and face critics from music industry stars including Natasha Bedingfield, Jermaine Dupri, and Leona Lewis among others. The charismatic performer is the lone country singer competing against eleven songwriting peers for the coveted $100,000 cash prize, publishing deal with Sony, BMI Songwriters The Writing Camp and a recording deal with RCA/Jive.
“My experience on ‘Platinum Hit’ enhanced my songwriting skills and showed my ability to work under pressure,” says Waldrup after filming.  When asked about her passion for music she quotes, “I don’t do it for money or fame; I do it for the ENRICHMENT. To give back to the world what they have given to me.”
With her sweet southern voice accentuated by a hint of New Orleans’s soul and grit, Karen Waldrup continues to pursue her music dreams and live by her father’s words “just keep on chipping away at it.” Originally from Mandeville, LA, this ambitious artist started singing at the age of fifteen at Our Lady of the Lake Church in her hometown.  After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi on a vocal scholarship, Waldrup relocated to the Music City and in 2008 became one of GAC’s Top 25 Songwriters.  In the summer of 2009, Waldrup opened for country music star Rodney Atkins at the “Salute to the Troops” concert at Fort Campbell and shared the roster with country music stars Carrie Underwood, Hank Williams Jr., and Jake Owen.
Waldrup recently released her self-titled independent album in January 2011, which can be purchased on her Web site, iTunes, and other digital outlets.  Her newest song, Don’t Worry About Me,is about being optimistic about letting go after a relationship.  For more information about Karen Waldrup please visit www.karenwaldrup.com
