Interview with Sarah Darling

Christian Lamitschka: I’m Christian Lamitschka and today I present you Sarah Darling. Sarah, welcome to the show.

Sarah Darling: Thank you for having me.

Christian Lamitschka: Sarah, could you please introduce yourself to all the European Country Music fans who may be hearing about you for the first time.

Sarah Darling: I want to say hi to all my brand new fans out there. I think that great music can travel very far, it can reach people from all over the world. It’s an amazing thing that we can do that. So hey!

Christian Lamitschka: Sarah, you have a new album called “Angels and Devils”. Folks, here is the album, you can see it. What inspired to the title?

Sarah Darling: I have a song on the album called “Angels and Devils” and it’s basically about this good girl who always gets wrapped up with the bad boy. I think we all women have one of those guys. One thing I want to tell you about the album, it’s a double disc. One side is fully produced and the other side is an acoustic side, so you get these two sides of me. We named it “Angels and Devils” just because you get these two sides.

Christian Lamitschka: So you are more Angel or Devil?

Sarah Darling: I’m more of an Angel for sure.

Christian Lamitschka: How did you pick out the songs for the album?

Sarah Darling: I wrote all of the songs except for two. There’s two covers on the album; one of which is a U2 song, “With Or Without You” which at first a lot of people gave me some flack like ‘I don’t know how you are going to do this song’, U2 is one of the biggest band in the world. I did it completely different version, it has this country feel. All the rest of the songs I wrote. One of which you want to check out is “Bad Habit”, it’s one I sing with Mr. Vince Gill.

Christian Lamitschka: You are wearing a big ring does that mean you are no longer single?

Sarah Darling: Oh, I am single. That is just a little bling.

Christian Lamitschka: Ok, she is single, it may be we have luck now, she gives us her personal phone number. (laughing). Do we have luck?

Sarah Darling: I probably shouldn’t be giving you my personal phone number.

Christian Lamitschka: Tell us a little bit about the studio work you had with this great album?

Sarah Darling: I worked with a producer, Jimmy Nickols, he’s a great session and piano player here in Nashville. I had an amazing time. The cool thing about this record, it’s my second. I was really hands on with this project. I was in the studio producing vocals myself and just really learning the process down. I think what happens when you’re an artist, you learn what you like and dislike. With this record I’m really happy with it.
